Our international Aerospace Client is looking for a Chief Commercial Officer to join their Defence business.

The role will provide financial and commercial support to the head of their Defence business and other members of the Defence department. The role involves some UK and European travel.


Required Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Senior level experience in an aviation or military vehicles business
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to solve complex problems
  • Design and Management of Project Controls within complex large-scale programmes
  • Risk and opportunity management
  • Major tender proposals, offers and management
  • Knowledge of MoD DE&S Procurement Cycle and procedures
  • Working knowledge of UK contract law and procurement practises

Role Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating all financial and commercial activities within the Defence Department
  • Providing financial and commercial input for all offers and tender responses to the MoD in accordance with company policy and procedure, and requirements of the customer
  • Drafting or reviewing contracts and contract amendments ensuring avoidance of unacceptable financial or commercial risk
  • Lead or assist in contract negotiations, in liaison with programme management personnel, to ensure all financial and commercial requirements are achieved or addressed
  • Contract administration and compliance, including financial planning and reporting, adherence to terms and conditions, prompt invoicing and customer adherence to payment milestones
  • Ensuring compliance with all DRA Single Source Regulations (SCSR) and reporting requirements
  • Maintenance of order intake records, sales and order backlog by contract
  • Preparation of Defence Department financial forecasts and performance reports, in accordance with approved Company operating plans and budgets
