A prestigious, well known business that has multiple sites across the country require an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to work in their Finance Shared Services team in Hull on a permanent basis.
The main purpose of the role is to ensure the efficient and effective processing of supplier related transactions and successfully lead a team of 10 AP clerks. The business is also currently going through a new system implementation to move onto a SAP, so previous knowledge of being involved in a similar transition would be highly advantageous. The company are very open to change therefore the role will also allow the successor of this department to enhance and make further improvements to existing processes.
The Accounts Payable Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
- Lead, motivate and develop 10 AP clerks in the team to deliver a full end to end busy AP function
- Recruitment and selection
- Training and mentoring the team
- Managing the appraisal process as well as setting team and individual objectives/ KPIs
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of supplier payments
- Be the escalation point for supplier queries as required, ensuring timely resolution in line with SLA's
- Identify process areas for improvement on an ongoing basis, leading the team in the generation of solutions
- Continuously drive improvements with the Accounts Payable team in relation to processes and customer service delivery
- Maintain and manage excellent relationships and effective communication with stakeholders
- Ensure resources are in place to deliver agreed services
The successful Accounts Payable Manager will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Ideally 5+ Previous experience in managing people within an AP function
- Good communication (verbal and written) and inter-personal skills
- Ability to drive and lead change initiatives
- Skills in planning and organising, decision making, negotiation and time management
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to forge strong working relationships with a diverse set of colleagues
- Experience of working in a service culture environment
- Proactive and high-energy
- Strong customer service ethos
- Good working knowledge of SAP (Highly Desirable)
- Accounting qualification (Highly Desirable)
