Residential Lettings Accountant - Fixed Term Contract. Our Client is well-established firm of Surveyors who handle residential and commercial properties for a number of clients across London. They have grown from strength to strength over the last 50 years and built up a good reputation in the market. They are now looking to recruit a Lettings Accountant to join their prestigious lettings accounts team.
The Role: The successful candidate for the Lettings Accountant role must assume the following responsibilities:
- Processing residential month end closure and reports are accurately completed on a monthly basis such as bank and fee reconciliations, deposits etc.
- Reporting NRL quarterly/yearly and ensuring that they are accurate and within agreed deadlines.
- Ensuring that client reporting is submitted no later than 2 days from the rent received or as agreed with a client including rent pay over.
- Preparing all rent receipts, are posted on a daily basis and allocated to correct tenants accordingly or if there are discrepancies.
- Moving out tenant's deposits are refunded as soon as information is provided and sent back to correct, given tenant's bank accounts or within 14 working days from tenant moving out date, subject that there is not disputes within Property Manager.
- Chasing tenants on a daily basis for the rents which are outstanding and notifying clients within 5 working days if tenants rent has not been paid on time.
- Ensuring all supplier invoices are checked/addressed correctly/approved and posted on a daily basis and that suppliers are paid once a client account are in funds and recorded accordingly.
- Making sure all accounts balances are checked against the bank balances before payment run.
- Performing supplier reconciliations when required by liaising with suppliers to investigate discrepancies and disputes.
- Ensuring that client and tenant fee invoices are raised on the system as per agreed pattern and percentages with client.
- Handling annual auditor queries are dealt with promptly and accurately by ensuring that suggestions of the good practice are adjusted on the system.
- Assisting the managers and team members with ongoing projects.
The Person must be available to start at short notice (if not straight away) and have experience of working as a residential client accountant / accounts assistant within an estate agency. The ideal candidate will have experience of using another lettings/property software including CFP, RADAR, VECO or similar. Working knowledge of non-residential landlord tax reporting is beneficial as is the ability to work independently and efficiently. They are looking for someone who can work under pressure and is able to meet deadlines.
