Sellick Partnership are currently assisting in the recruitment of a Head of Estates to join a large NHS organisation based in the North East.

The Head of Estates will provide a senior professional managerial service on all building and engineering and related operational matters with direct responsibility for a large professional and technical workforce, contract procedures, and financial control of large budgets.

The purpose of the role is to be head of department for the Trust's engineering and building services, and to contribute a senior managerial input into the capital and site development and long-term Estates strategies.

Essential Experience:

  • Chartered Engineer or Chartered Builder and member of professional organisation such as CIBSE, RICS, CIOB, IHEEM
  • Preferably academically qualified to professional level - minimum Master's degree or equivalent extensive experience in the field.
  • Extensive experience in a similar role at a senior management level.
  • Must have detailed, highly developed specialist knowledge of all building and engineering and operational services in a large acute teaching hospital, gained through formal training and experience
  • In depth knowledge of design, construction, maintenance and commissioning of engineering and building services and equipment
  • Specialist lead for legionella and decontamination issues
  • Must have specialist training/knowledge in life-critical engineering services, and possess managerial knowledge and qualification
  • Possess highly developed specialist engineering and Estates services knowledge covering a broad range of work procedures, operational requirements, knowledge and skills. These can only have been gained by formal training, qualifications and experience at a senior level.
  • Extensive knowledge of Health Service capital procurement programmes / procedures
  • The post holder must have specialist, highly developed knowledge across a range of technical, operational and managerial functions, educated to degree or Masters Standard with additional training and qualifications for specialised areas.
  • The post holder must possess advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in their specialist field to ensure work procedures covering various areas are managed effectively.

There is an opportunity for this role to be made in to a 6 month contract.
