Goldhawk Associates are excited to be working in partnership with Demelza Hospice Care for Children, to appoint a Director of Finance and Business Planning. We are looking for a special person because this is a very special organisation, and they will be doing some amazing things over the next few years. The Director of Finance and Business Planning will take responsibility for the management of the finance team, for all financial processes for Demelza and act as the organisational lead for strategic business planning in order to achieve the organisational strategy. Reporting into the Chief Executive and acting as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsibilities will include:

• The provision of sound assurance and advice to trustees, the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team, acting as the accountable interface between management and trustees on Finance matters and performance.
• Responsibility for the production and presentation of financial reports, budgets and forecasts, and the provision of advice and analysis to Trustees, Senior Leadership Team and budget holders.
• As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, to be responsible for the leadership, strategy and priorities of the organisation, for the delivery of the five-year Strategy, Annual Business Plan and Budget, and for the day to day running of the charity, providing a financial and commercial perspective.
• To oversee business-planning systems which will ensure delivery of the organisation's strategy, and which will also provide support and motivation to staff at all levels to achieve Demelza's ambitions on behalf of children, young people and families
• To provide excellent management to the Finance department, within an overall culture of positive and empowering performance management
• To negotiate and establish partnerships with commercial providers and provide an external interface with banks, auditors, pension funds, investment managers, financial consultants and charity finance specialists.
• To pro-actively identify risks and areas for improvement in Finance, and manage action plans to mitigate risk and deliver improvement, ensuring compliance with best practice and robust process controls.

Candidates will be full qualified (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with a high level of confidentiality, integrity and honesty with a strong commitment to the values and culture of a charitable organisation. Extensive experience operating as a senior financial professional and experience of the charity sector will be a pre-requisite, in addition to experience of implementing and managing business planning frameworks. Exceptional communication and people management skills with the ability to lead, develop and empower teams and drive through change will also be key. Due to the nature of the charity's focus, a commitment to the field of children's palliative care, and the hospice movement will also be a requirement.
