A private equity backed construction related organisation near Wakefield are looking to appoint a Finance Business Partner. 

This is a pivotal role supporting the Directors supporting them in all finance functions within their Business unit.

This role will consist of project accounting, management accounts and general finance support, with regular contract reviews with regional managers and project managers to ensure accuracy of forecasting, efficient working capital and timely management accounts and information. The Finance Business Partner will be responsible for all finance functions for the divisions however this may vary at any time to suit the needs of the business.

As Finance Business Partner you will: 

For each of the sub-divisions you are responsible for you will be expected to do the following tasks:

Monthly Tasks

  • Project reviews with each of the project managers in every sub-division to update the forecasting information and ensure accurate costs to complete and sales levels. 
  • Prepare 12 month rolling forecasts, including detailed sales forecasts split into known, visible and speculative.
  • Prepare management accounts including all adjustments required to complete the month end process, amounts recoverable on contracts, job costing accruals and prepayments etc.
  • Prepare variance walks/ bridges to forecasts and original budgets.
  • Balance sheet reviews for each sub-division, including backing schedules for all major balance sheets
  • Risks and opportunities schedule.
  • Ad hoc reporting as required

Weekly Tasks

  • Regular debt and application meetings with project managers to ensure efficient cash collection.
  • Turnover reports to calculate how each sub-division is comparing to their weekly forecast.
  • Project reviews - This is a monthly task but as there will be many projects you will most probably have meetings each week to ensure that by month end you are satisfied with the project results.

Annual Tasks

  • Preparation of balance sheet reviews with backing schedules for audit file.
  • You will be expected to be available when the auditors are conducting the companies audit to answer any questions or queries relating to your area of responsibility.
  • You may be asked to assist with some central ad-hoc tasks as and when required such as tax pack information relating to your sub-division and other year end tasks required to complete the audit file.

The Finance Business Partner will be

  • A qualified accountant with significant post qualification commercial experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experienced in working in a business facing finance business partnering role.
