Job Description:

We are looking for a Group Financial Controller to join our growing Recruitment Business, leading a small team including a management accountant, credit controller and payroll administrator. This is an outstanding opportunity for progression up to Finance Director. The role will report into the Interim Finance Director and Business Owners, who want to have robust cash flow forecasting due to the nature of the business. We want to maximise the businesses financial opportunities both in the UK and overseas whilst also ensuring compliance with accounting best practice, current legislation and governance requirements.

Role and Responsibilities:

The Group Financial Controller remit will include preparing monthly accounts including a P&L, balance sheet and supporting commentary to be ready by WD10, preparing monthly sales analysis with extensive commentary, cash flow forecasting, budget processes, ongoing budget review, forecasting and cash management. The role of the Group Financial Controller is pivotal in forming part of the senior management team of the business.

We want a full review of our accounting processes (SAGE Line 50), to understand where we can make efficiencies in process and reduce time. This Group Financial Controller role is hands on as you will also be involved in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing annual statutory accounts to a Trial Balance with supporting schedules. The Group Financial Controller will have full responsibility for payroll management, maintenance of sales ledger for over 100 clients including credit control.

Other key duties include:

• Maintain bank accounts, BACS, company credit cards and forex
• Purchase Ledger management
• Monthly account reconciliations
• Monitoring fixed assets and maintaining the FAR
• Dealing with VAT Returns
• Corporation Tax support when required and corresponding with HMRC
• Responsible for finance team members (currently 3), coaching and development
• Liaising with external finance, professional advisors and Auditors.

Skills & Personal Attributes

• The successful candidate will need to be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA /CIMA ) who has a broad portfolio of accounting skills and also a good technical grounding.
• Demonstrates attention to detail, whilst being able to understand and communicate the big picture.
• You must have commercial awareness to identify opportunities to further the business.
• Demonstrate an appetite to contribute to the success of the business and can work within and lead a small team.
• Performance driven with energy and determination.
• Accountable and results orientated with a high level of integrity.
• Need to be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel as a lot of our financial controls are processed through this.
