"Controlling Growth, Optimising Opportunity & Maximising Returns"

Our client, Blu Wireless Technology Limited, have created a stir in the communications world, more specifically carrier-grade 5G mmWave products, finally providing an alternative that is free from issues like interference, inflexibility and restrictive licensing models.  They have evolved into a new breed of solution provider that not only has the technology, but also the system and market expertise that is empowering the world of 5infrastructure, ISPs and WISPs.  With access to capital they have a platform for future growth, their challenge being to leverage this in a structured and disciplined manner to ensure service levels run parallel to demand – they are seeking an incisive Chief Financial Officer who will be instrumental in enabling the organisation to achieve its strategic goals.

Reporting to the CEO, the role is to build a “fit for growth” finance function across the disparate range of business activities without diluting flair.   The remit is to develop a cohesive MI and financial reporting function at the hub that gives timely, accurate and commercially meaningful support to the businesses’ leadership, whilst controlling cash, costs, pricing and margin etc. (and critically optimising the working capital/capex and funding needs of the company).   The requirement is to be the CEO’s foil, to support his decision-making with critical analysis, to liaise with advisers and bankers, to evaluate and enumerate business plans as well as major contract opportunities etc.  You will be an integral part of the strategic planning and decision making processes surrounding investment and business expansion decisions. The responsibility is to maximise returns, de-risk the company from a financial stability/commercial trading perspective without stifling opportunity.

Technical capability is a given - commercial acumen is the key.  It is likely that you are a proven SME Finance Director and previous exposure to an R&D led engineering company would be advantageous.  You understand the Owner-Managed Business dynamics, love the thrill of the commercial chase, but in a controlled enterprising way.  You set, but can re-prioritise, a disciplined financial agenda ie. you ensure that the annual budget is owned by the Directors and performance monitor the outputs to measure and control the results.  You understand the time-value of money, cash, capital profit/margin, yield and return.  You are not precious about computer systems, but are about the accuracy and meaningfulness that comes from them.  You are proactive and incisive.
