Job Description

The Senior Systems Accountant is responsible to the Finance Director for line managing one Systems Accountant, focused on developing, maintaining and operating the Agresso system within the school. Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Develop detailed knowledge of reporting from Agresso to enable the production and distribution of bespoke reports using Agresso Browser, Analyser and Excelerator tools and use report programming facilities.
  • Understand information needs and design suitable dashboard reports for online users to meet these needs in support of the School's Strategy.
  • Facilitate, and respond to, the recommendations of the School's Agresso Executive Steering Group (AESG), and prioritise which new features and developments would benefit the School strategically and operationally.
  • Implement agreed Agresso development projects to ensure solutions are effective and efficient.
  • Co-ordinate and chair meetings with main (volume) users of Agresso
  • Recommend and support development of appropriate training required
  • Ensure that the Agresso system is upgraded in a timely manner, to take advantage of new functionality, 'bug fixes', and continued full support from Unit4.
  • Maintain the Chart of Accounts and reporting trees to ensure that the Agresso system remains fit for the purpose in producing the annual financial statements, TRAC data and regular financial and budget reports.
  • Perform regular reviews of the integrity of data posted to Agresso
  • Manage the performance and development of the Systems Accountant.
  • Monitor the operation of the Agresso Helpdesk

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified and degree educated, preferably with a Higher Education background although this is not a prerequisite to success in the role. In addition to this, the Senior Systems Accountant will also be expected to have the following competencies and experience:

  • Substantial experience of working with finance IT systems in a complex organisation
  • Demonstrable experience of systems upgrades, improvements and developments
  • Staff management
  • Experience of presenting papers to Committees and working groups
  • Expert knowledge of the reporting requirements of Agresso, or similar finance IT system
  • Expert knowledge of report generators - Agresso Excelerator or equivalent, and the use of the Structured Query Language to build advanced reports to meet varied reporting requirements
  • Expert knowledge of Excel to advanced level including Excel's data management capabilities
  • Being able to work as part of a team and consult on the Agresso system
  • The ability to manage stakeholder relationships at all levels
