Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Controller role is the number two finance position in the Business.  

The successful candidate will work for the CFO and closely with the wider executive team and have regular interaction with the CEO.

Working closely with the Commercial and Factory Finance Team, the post holder is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of the key financial reports and metrics.

Whilst the role looks after the central finance team which also currently includes the logistics operation, the desired individual is very much one that engages and influences the wider business.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for timely and accurate reporting to the Group to include external reporting & internal weekly & monthly reporting.
  • Drives continuous improvement to speed up and streamline the month end processes.
  • Lead year-end audit, key contact with auditors and ensuring a clean audit.
  • Lead year end budget process across the business
  • Lead tax initiatives for the group and maximises relief for the group. Keeps technically up to date with tax affairs that relate to the Group structure. Ensure all reporting is in place.
  • Responsible for accurate cash flow forecasting; working with customers to maximise receipts and working closely with the business to manage cash outflows.
  • Responsible for commercial outputs for logistics operations.
  • Strong leader who can demonstrate a track record of delivering through their team, can motivate, engage and develop teams
  • Lead on group treasury to include day to day cash management, foreign exchange management & bank third party reporting. Manage groups exposure to foreign exchange risk.
  • Work closely with credit insurers to ensure the business keeps strong cover in place – accountable for raising areas of risk and escalating to the CFO for action.
  • Responsible for central finance, team (around 15 colleagues)
  • Business partner across peer group and in the wider business with the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships.
  • Responsible for AP/AR – ensuring effective systems are in place and supplier payments are made in a timely manner, ensuring effective supplier relationships.
  • Develop and report departmental KPI dashboard – sharing information within the finance team and wider stakeholder group.
  • Be face of finance and keep CFO abreast of any emerging opportunities and issues.
  • Management of group capital allocation, ensuring a robust process in place and items treated in accordance with relevant accounting standards
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as may from time to time be required by the Company

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a proven leader with the natural ability to inspire and motivate the finance team
  • Be an ambassador for best practice and keeps abreast of updates to professional standards and legislative changes. FRS102 experience desirable
  • Possess experience within a P/E backed business – understanding of PE framework and funding desirable but not essential
  • Ideally have previous experience gained within the Manufacturing/FMCG sector
  • Demonstrate a strong control background, ensuring all month end processes run effectively and all reconciliations are performed monthly to a high standard
  • Be a strong team leader with experience of managing and developing a team
  • Have strong cash flow experience
  • Demonstrate a background of enabling and delivering strong financial control
  • Demonstrate a strong business partnership approach across key stakeholders
