The Vat Manager will advise the business on VAT matters, particularly looking at issues and opportunities connected with the retail businesses. They ensure Tesco is VAT compliant but equally that its tax obligations are managed efficiently.

Main Responsibilities

  • Auditing VAT rates set up within the different Tesco Product Files and managing a weekly review and checking process. This requires liaising with Commercial teams to ensure changes are made in a timely manner.
  • Assisting the Product teams to meet their GSCOP obligations and the VAT issues that have arisen as a consequence. This includes ensuring VAT is correctly applied to the different types of Commercial Income.
  • Resolving VAT queries with suppliers
  • Working with the VAT Compliance Manager to ensure the Product area reports VAT correctly and that all VAT liabilities are accounted for at the right time.
  • Dealing with HMRC enquiries and audits as appropriate.
  • Providing VAT training to the business to ensure teams are aware of the VAT issues relevant to the Product area as a whole
  • Monitoring changes in case law, legislation and regulations and communicating changes to the business to ensure that these are factored into new and existing initiatives.
  • Working with the International Tax and Finance teams to support them on product related VAT issues
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.

Ideal Candidate
