Group Accountant

Mansfield District Council has an opportunity available for a Group Accountant to join the team based in Mansfield. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, we will offer you a competitive salary of £31,401 - £35,229 per annum.

As one of the largest employers in the area we offer a wide range of services across the district including housing and assets, waste and  environment, community protection, environmental health, planning and customer services to name just a few.

The Group Accountant Role

We are currently looking for a well organised individual who is dynamic and self-motivated, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, to join our Finance Team.

As our Group Accountant, you will work within the Corporate Accountancy Team (part of Financial Services)and will be responsible for contributing towards the Council’s budget setting process, budget monitoring and annual Statement of Accounts. You will be required to provide professional advice to elected members and officers to support the financial decision making process.

Skills & Experience required by our Group Accountant

You will have experience working within a finance setting, ideally within a local authority, and will be a fully qualified member of any accounting body (CCAB or CIMA).

The Council offers generous benefits including enrolment into the Nottingham County Council Pension Scheme, flexible working hours and annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days for new local authority employees, going up to 36 days after five years’ service. The Council provides free car parking for all employees.
