Finance Manager - Health Innovation Network - Band 8a

London

£46,897 - £54,983 p.a inc HCA

After a successful first 5 year license the Health Innovation Network (HIN), the south London Academic Health Science Network, is continuing to build and develop as we deliver on our goal of speeding up the best in health and care, together.

As part of this development we are looking to recruit a band 8a Finance Manager, to support the Head of Finance & Information, in delivering the finance function the HIN needs. This is a new role, with scope for the successful applicant to develop and shape it going forward.

As we are hosted by Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation, who manage statutory report and invoice payment; this is not a role primarily about ledgers and month ends, although you will need to work closely with trust colleagues on these issues. Instead it is about ensuring that our funders and senior leadership and all the information they need to make the best possible decisions. We are looking for someone who will relish the challenge of redesigning our financial reports and processes from the ground up.

You will line manage the Finance Support Officer, developing them and supporting them in the day to day management of HIN finances.

In addition you will take the lead on redesigning our internal business processes, making them leaner, more robust and more able to support the needs of colleagues in clinical themes.

You will be a qualified accountant, either with experience within the NHS, or else an understanding of how to deliver within large public sector bureaucracies (if you don’t have NHS experience please ensure you address this point in your personal statement). You will be looking to expand your knowledge and experience outside the traditional finance function.

You will be able to understand and articulate the vision and aims of the Health Innovation Network (this will be something for interview rather than personal statement).

In your personal statement please focus on why this role is of interest to you. It would also be helpful if you could limit your statement to 300 words.

The application process will include a number of tests, both of aptitude and technical skills.

The closing date will Thursday 21 June with interviews the week of 2 July.

If you have any questions or would welcome an informal conversation  However please note I am on leave till 18 June so won’t be able to respond till then.
