Becoming a Finance Manager with Capita (Transport For London):

Management of the Client Accounting Team, responsible for the delivery of all Finance & Accounting Services to Transport for London under the London Road User Charging & Traffic Enforcement Notice Processing schemes.

The ideal candidate will have previous relevant experience of managing and leading a team. The role will manage a team of 11. (8 transactional and reconciliation and 3 Financial reporting and analysis).

What you will do:

  • Ownership of the Finance & Accounting stakeholder relationship between Capita and TfL Finance with regards to Client Accounting & Reporting.
  • Assume the day to day leadership and management of the Client Accounting Team to ensure that Finance & Accounting services are delivered to TfL as per contractual requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining TfL's general and sub ledgers including bank and cash reconciliations.
  • Ensure that all Daily, Weekly and Period End Financial Reporting is completed and submitted to TfL as per the agreed contractual requirements/deadlines.
  • Assume overall financial controls including continuous cost management to deliver financial forecast and meet internal Capita financial targets.
  • Ensure compliance with TfL's Risk & Control Framework within the Client Accounting function and rapidly remedy any exposures to ensure a positive Audit posture is maintained at all times.
  • Responsible for the assurance of any Finance functionality change resulting from Programme implementations and transition in to BAU service.
  • Provide guidance as a role model to direct reports ensuring customer Satisfaction & financial performance is always at the forefront of daily activities.

Your experience will include:

(Essential)

  • Strong People Management skills with a proven track record of leading, engaging, developing and motivating teams.
  • Demonstrable track record of developing and maintaining strong professional relationships at all levels.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to influence and change.
  • Evidence of success in influencing, leading, supporting and motivating stakeholders to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problems solving skills with excellent attention to detail and a willingness to challenge.
  • Ability to work under pressure, work to tight deadlines with no detriment to the high quality standards expected.
  • Requires little direction, highly motivated, demonstrates initiative and is proactive in their approach to the business.
  • Analytical approach ensuring confident decisions are made in line with current finance legislation.
  • Broad experience and/or understanding of working in a transactional finance function.

(Desirable)

  • Holder of or working towards a recognised Finance Qualification - ACCA, CIMA.
  • Experience of managing a team delivering a Finance or Accounting service on behalf of a client.

Capita operates the congestion charging, low emission zone and traffic enforcement notice processing schemes on behalf of Transport for London

Congestion Charging is designed to reduce traffic congestion and the income raised is wholly reinvested in transport for London. Traffic enforcement notice processing includes processing Penalty Charge Notices for bus lane and yellow box junction contraventions. Capita provide the IT systems, back office and contact centre to run the schemes and the associated enforcement processes.
