Commercial Finance Director

Our client is a Private Equity backed B2B group currently experiencing a period of growth.

GRG Executive Search is looking for a Commercial Finance Director to work alongside the Managing Director and will be accountable for both commercial and financial activities. The successful candidate will be involved in the operational leadership of the business, contributing to both strategic development and day-to-day business management as this acquisitive group continues to grow.

You will be responsible for commercial finance and will be integral to growing the business, with an expectation that you will drive commercial and operational performance, develop a deep understanding of the industry and be happy to get involved at all levels of business activity including pricing and bid support.

The Commercial Finance Director will be responsible for:

Key responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for commercial pricing activity.
• Manage the provision of management accounts and forecasts to create a first class financial and management reporting environment, ensuring there are controls in place necessary to produce timely and accurate business reporting and analysis.
• Continuous development and implementation of the company's internal finance and business systems appropriate to address on-going business growth, annually reviewing the appropriateness of the outsourced finance department
• Ensure that Finance works in conjunction with other functions across the business where this is necessary, providing support to help improve the business
• Delivery of annual planning processes, including annual budgeting and longer-term forecasts
• Commercial analysis in support of both strategic and tactical business decision-making including roll-out strategy, other capital expenditure (ie systems), product innovation, labour scheduling, pricing decisions and marketing activity

Candidate Requirements

• Experience gained within a high growth, multi-site, organisation.
• Qualified accountant
• Possess strong attention to detail allied to the ability to think and operate strategically
• Experienced at Finance Director level within a small entrepreneurial multi-site environment as a Divisional FD of a larger organisation. Alternatively, you may be an experienced FC looking to take on their first FD role.
• Possess the ability to be hands on as well as strategic
• Able to build strong working relationships, trust and credibility with Board colleagues, with the MD, Private Equity house and with lending banks.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and sound judgement and be comfortable operating in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
