Chartered Accountancy Practice based in Leeds with an exciting growth plan is seeking an Accountant, either qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience (QBE). This is a great opportunity to join their friendly and professional team.
Reporting to the Partner, the Accountant will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients ranging from small to medium-sized limited companies to partnerships, sole traders and personal tax clients.
The Accountant will provide a variety of services including bookkeeping and VAT returns, accounts preparation and tax compliance successful applicant will be given the opportunity to become the in-house Xero Champion and to assist with the continuing roll-out of Xero to current and future clients, including the introduction of related applications.

Depending on experience, the duties of the Accountant include:
- Assistance in the production and analysis of year end accounts for a variety of sole traders partnerships and limited companies using Digita software
- Visiting clients and assisting with Monthly/Quarterly management reporting
- Preparation and submission of statutory accounts and corporation tax returns, including analysis for disallowable items, capital allowances, reliefs and losses of deferred tax and tax reconciliations using Digita
- VAT preparation and submission to HMRC, including detailed reconciliations
- Working with and extracting data from Sage and Xero and providing on-going support to clients in respect of day to day accounting issues etc
- Liaison with both the tax and audit department to collaborate and share knowledge and information
- Assistance with statutory audits, operating as a Semi-Senior
- On an ad-hoc basis providing assistance to the Corporate Finance Unit in the form of due diligence and financial modelling work
- Working closely with the Senior Tax Manager to widen tax knowledge and, if appropriate, progressing to CTA status.
- In addition to the above duties, the successful applicant will have their own small mixed portfolio of clients (i. Personal and Corporate) whom they will be centrally responsible for, on a day to day basis, including billing.
Qualifications and Experience required:
- A strong background within practice with the ability to prepare a set of accounts from Sage, Xero (or similar) and manual books and records
- Preparation of Personal and Corporate Tax Returns
- Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience (QBE)
- A professional manner with the ability to develop good working relationships with both clients and staff
- Knowledge of Xero, Sage, IRIS, Digita, QuickBooks or similar accounting Practice Management packages
- Good IT skills to include Word, Excel and Outlook
- Highly organised, self-motivated and willing to support colleagues as required
- Able to manage own workload and work to deadlines with accuracy
- Supervision of junior staff.
