Reed Finance are currently working a prestigious and highly respected educational establishment in Oxford.
This role works closely with the overall Bursar taking full responsibility for the finance operation with the support of an accounts assistant.
* Ensure that all finances and financial systems are effectively and efficiently managed (including risk managed) to the highest standards and meet all regulatory and audit standards;
* Prepare annual budget, with individual budgets for budget holders (in consultation with the Bursar)
* Regular financial reporting (monthly for budget holders and quarterly for Finance Committee), including cashflow forecasting to ensure sufficient funds are available for ongoing operations and capital projects
* Preparation and review of the payroll (sent to external bureau for processing)
* Raising invoices for student fees, dealing with student enquiries and credit control
* Oversight and control of petty cash, month-end reconciliations, maintenance of ledgers and payment runs (carried out by the Finance Assistant).
* Liaison with external professional and grant teams.
* Liaison with the University of Oxford over student' fees schedule, Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) grant and Collegiate Funding Formula (CFF) and Student Loan Company.
* Assisting with financial aspects of the Development Department, including review of gifts received and Gift Aid.
Operations
* Together with managers, ensuring that the college maximises, to the extent possible, the commercial return on its buildings, catering and hospitality services
* Monitoring the provision of catering by the external contract caterer, including associated contract negotiations
Tax and Compliance
* Preparation of annual accounts under Charities SORP (2015) and liaison with auditors (including 2 subsidiary companies)
* Preparation / Review of statutory returns including corporation tax returns, VAT returns, Companies House, Charity Commission.
