Corporate tax planning specialist job Assistant to Tax Director for independent firm in Southampton

You will be working for one of the largest independent firms of Chartered Accountants and business and tax advisers in the region, offering the depth of resource and specialist skills of a national practice but remaining dedicated to the personal approach.

Your new role
These are exciting times for the firm and their growth has resulted in the need for an additional dynamic tax specialist, the role of which is to be that of Assistant to the Tax Director and Senior Tax Manager on tax planning assignments. This will include liaising with other directors and their clients to identify and provide tax planning solutions, and advising on and reviewing more complex corporation tax computations.
Key responsibilities will include providing general tax technical support and business tax advice both directly to clients and internally in response to requests from the firm's directors and staff, and delivering tax planning advice and support directly to clients.
Typical assignments could include:-
- Remuneration planning advice, including advising on choice of business structure
- Dealing with HMRC enquiries regarding the Corporation Tax position, including negotiating final settlement with the Revenue
- Succession planning advice
- Advising on the benefits of claiming R&D and working with clients to review possible claims
- Providing technical support in response to queries from the Directors in connection with their clients
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have a detailed knowledge of business and corporate taxes and experience in undertaking detailed planning work in these areas.
You will be able to take responsibility and run project work through to completion and have high quality report and letter writing skills.
You will need to provide pro-active advice internally and externally to promote tax planning opportunities and cross-selling opportunities and maintain knowledge and keep up to date with changes in taxation through professional reading, research and training courses.
You will also have good communication skills and be able to build a good rapport and strong working relationships with clients, including over the telephone and in person, as well as being able to manage a varied workload and prioritise tasks to meet expectations
