Operations/Commercial Accountant

This challenging manufacturing sector finance role is standalone and is to provide a link between finance, operations and the commercial teams, investigating areas that have an impact on the financial accounts and resolving issues. This is mainly in the area of production results, stock and labour costs/productivity. This role will also manage and assist in the preparation of any new tenders and provide support to the commercial team.

Job Responsibilities

• Investigate operational issues on production results, labour costs and productivity and stock
• To assist with the implementation of any new systems or projects
• Manage the preparation of tender information.
• Prepare various ad hoc reports and analysis to support the business in driving down costs.

Main Duties

• Management Reports and Information
• Production, stock and costing information.
• Systems controls and stock reconciliations and attending stock takes
• Production analysis including attending daily production meetings with the operations team. Investigating and resolving unknown differences and ensuring procedures are followed at an operational level.
• Maximise use of IT systems and information.
• Management and analysis of costing information and variances
• Labour analysis and investigation, setting of labour Standards, time and motion studies.
• KPI interrogation.
• Cost base review.
• Assist and oversee preparation of tender information.

Key Requirements

• Manufacturing background and factory-based experience
• A strong communicator with finance and non-finance staff
• Enthusiastic with flexibility to meet deadlines
• Flexibility in working days and hours
• Excel to Advanced level - pivot tables, vlookups
• Hard worker, 'Can do' attitude
• Proactive self starter, able to work on own initiative
• Preferably qualified CIMA or ACCA - but open to a very relevant QBE Commercial Accountant
