Based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, our client is an exciting, instantly recognised and growing company, looking for an AAT Qualified or ACCA/CIMA early stage studier to join as an Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis.

This job would suit a part qualified, studying accountant who has previously worked in a month end focused role with experience in double entry bookkeeping and credits and debits exposure. The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for executing and improving the utility accounting process. The job will also involve performing the weekly and monthly reconciliations/ journals ensuring they are accurate.

It is essential the candidate has a keen eye for detail with great organisational and communication skills. The candidate should have good Excel skills and ideally previous knowledge in cost accounting within a finance department.

Duties will include:

• Weekly charge to the brands and reconciliations to invoices and balance sheet
• Dispute tracking and facilitating resolution/ reporting & continuous improvements
• Provide reports on business rent, balance sheet reconciliations, creditor analysis and PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) reconciliations, as required
• Reconciling the charges made to brand with actual invoices, accounting for the CRC element and price variance appropriately
• Communicating with brands any consumption variance and making the necessary accounting entries
• Accountable for identifying and escalating issues with bill validation alongside providing continuous improvement ideas to develop the software and process
• Liaising directly with suppliers to ensure that all queries are dealt with efficiently and supplier statement analysis to ensure invoices have been paid correctly and in full
• Compiling and issuing of monthly reports "statements" to brands
• Completing a monthly report to Division on price variance
• Supporting Accounts Payable to ensure payments are made in a timely fashion
• Communicate frequently and regularly with updates, ensure good relations with the brands, sites, sustainability team and the suppliers
