Role summary
The main objective of this role is to support the delivery of business strategy and shareholder value creation, through a combination of:
- Management Information: own and maintain financial management information systems (with appropriate configuration) and key performance indicator definitions that support the delivery of insightful and actionable management information
- Planning & Budgeting: deliver integrated business planning and budgeting that support the strategic and financial objectives of the business
- Business Performance Management: own and manage the business performance management framework, defining reporting formats and governance forums that drive management accountability for business performance
- Insightful Analysis: support the AI leadership team in understanding the drivers of business performance and impact of strategic and tactical decision making on business performance
What you’ll be doing
- Support in the preparation of key planning and budgeting outputs: business integrated business plan and the budget
- Evolve and maintain planning tools and templates (i.e. driver based budgeting models)
- Support in the preparation of key financial reports and associated analysis: monthly financial report; board pack; quarterly business review
- Own and maintain financial templates used by business units for periodic reporting: monthly finance review; monthly business review
- Take ownership for discrete pieces of project work and financial analysis as required by the business Finance Director / FP& Director
- Develop and maintain working capital and cash flow analysis models
- Lead the preparation of financial models and business cases for ad hoc projects / analysis
- Support in the preparation of BAE Systems Group reporting requirements
- Support preparation of balance sheet and other reconciliations to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting
- Ownership of balance sheet / cash flow modelling
What we’re looking for
- Qualified CIMA, ACCA, ACA
- High attention to detail
- Intermediate Excel modelling skills
- Understanding of driver based budgeting
- Business modelling
- A delivery focus, experience of working to tight timescales, and a track record of consistently meeting deadlines
- The ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, and challenge constructively to deliver results when required
- Desire to improve processes and procedure
- Genuine interest in the drivers of business performance and how FP&A can support financially sound decision making
