Accountancy Action are very pleased to have been retained by a family business in West London to find an exceptional CFO. With revenues of £12m and circa 90 employees they operate in the business services sector.

Their reputation has been built on traditional family values of trust and loyalty and an unswerving desire to offer the very highest levels of customer service. This is reflected in a large corporate client base as well as 50% repeat business.

.The Role

A need has arisen to recruit a CFO to replace the existing individual who will be retiring following some 20 years service to the business. Reporting to the Managing Director and being a key member of the senior management team, the successful candidate will be commercially driven and  an influencer, with the desire and ability to truly understand and help drive the business and provide quality management information to facilitate effective decision making, whilst offering business support to the other senior managers.

A track record in providing robust, timely and accurate financial information will be paramount along with evidence of increasing the level of finance engagement and business partnering.

Key duties will be:

• Deliver accurate, timely and incisive monthly financial information to facilitate decision making;
• Act as a key partner to the Managing Director in setting business plans, strategy and vision;
• Take a hands on approach in ensuring compliant and robust financial processes and systems and future proof the business in ensuring all systems are fit for purpose and can cope with future scale;
• Take responsibility for the effective management of external relationships including banks, other lenders, Auditors and HMRC.
• Work closely with the Digital Director to ensure the ecommerce platform meets the needs of the business;
• Ensure Companies House obligations are fulfilled in the role of Company Secretary;
• Manage a small dedicated finance team.

The Individual

The successful applicant will be a qualified finance professional who has held a number one finance role supporting a business leader, probably from a small to medium sized company background.

He / she will be a customer focused, dynamic, commercial business leader who questions the status quo but is sensitive to the relationships within a small / medium business and will be non ego driven but ambitious from the perspective of playing a pivotal role in the future growth of the organization.
