Financial Controller

A great opportunity for a Financial Controller to join an exciting and growing international retailer that will empower and develop an individual that is up for a challenge.

The current Manager has been internally promoted to FP&A Commercial Manager as maternity cover, so we are looking for a Fixed Term Contract up to 9 months to cover this period.

The role includes:

- managing and overseeing the Financial Accounts team of 3, covering cash, capital expenditure, tax/vat, year end, statutory reporting, management accounting for various cost centres including accounting for the company’s estate schedule costs
- budgeting and forecasting various cost centre including head-office payroll
- management accounting responsibilities including month end review
- managing and overseeing all International financial reporting, tax/vat and other compliance
- management of three accountants

Candidate Requirements:

• Fully Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ CIMA / ACA or equivalent), 3-4+ years post qualified
• Preferred 1-2+ years industry experience
• Advanced in Excel
• Ability to navigate and understand accounting systems
• Strong technical accounting background, with an excellent commercial outlook
• Ability to keep abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation
• Experience in VAT, Intrastat, EC Sales, tax and other reporting compliance
• Experience in managing the month end process including monthly reconciliations
• Experience in preparation of year end statutory accounts
• Excellent eye for detail, diligent knowledge of accounting regulations
• Capabilities to supervise, manage and lead staff
• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Self-motivated, pro-active, deadline and results driven
• Quick to adapt to new situations, systems and processes
• Strong influencing skills
