Based in North Manchester / Lancashire, this well-established Social Housing Provider are recruiting a Rents and Service Charges Accountant to join the team. Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, the job holder is responsible for the calculation of Rents and Service Charges and assisting in monitoring and control of the income budgets. The jobs core purpose is to prepare the annual Rent Plan, including the calculation of rent increases. Preparation of the annual Rent Plan, including the calculation of rent increases. Review annually the Bad Debts and Rent and Service Charge Policies.

This will include:
  • Identification and calculation of service charges ensuring appropriate consultation exercises are carried out where the introduction of new service charges is proposed
  • Provide service charge statements in accordance with variable service charge requirements.
  • Put in place appropriate procedures to ensure that all service chargeable expenditure is identified and robust costings are captured.
  • Monthly monitoring of income variances, liaise with appropriate budget holders, prepare quarterly forecasts and advise budget holders on corrective action for significant variances.
  • Ensure the completeness and accuracy of actual, budget and forecast financial data relating to rents, service charges and other income.
In addition, the job holder will assist in the completion of the Statutory Accounts and when required, deputise for the Senior Management accountant in the management of the ledger and wider finance function in a collaborative way.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of rent and service charge setting and be proficient in producing service charge budgets and customer accounts including audited accounts. To be successful in this role you will be ACA, ACCA or CIMA part or fully qualified. Qualified by experience will also be considered for this position.
