Assistant Financial Accountant – East London – £30,000 per annum
An East London based Charity are looking to recruit a talented Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis.
The Role
The Assistant Finance Accountant will support the finance team in the delivery of a comprehensive financial accounting function for the charity and its trading subsidiary. The successful applicant will provide professional accounting and administrative support services and take responsibility for reconciling income recorded on different systems, bank accounts and the sales ledger.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Accountant
- Post all income which comes into the Charity onto the finance system via the SUN interface programme.
- Reconcile all financial holding accounts monthly ensuring that all reconciling items are identified, investigated and cleared in a timely manner in time for month-end management accounts.
- Critically review the current processes, systems and flow of financial data from source to bank and recommend improvements.
- Reconcile all bank accounts for the charity and its trading subsidiary to the finance system on an agreed timescale.
- Assist in the preparation & reconciliation of monthly Gift Aid claims for the charity and the annual Gift Aid Small Donation Scheme (GASDS) claim to HMRC.
- Take responsibility for maintaining an efficient sales ledger system for the charity and its subsidiary, ensuring that payments are requested and processed in accordance with relevant financial processes.
- Support the finance team during the annual audit for the charity and its trading subsidiary by producing supporting documentation as required by the auditors for the year-end file.
Qualifications & Experience of the Assistant Financial Accountant
- Part Qualified / Studying towards qualification
- Ideally have experience in an Assistant Accountant role
