We’re looking for a Financial Accountant for a global business based in Maidenhead.

Our client is a supplier of seafood products to processors & distributors across the world. The Maidenhead office is a major hub for finance and logistics operations.

As Financial Accountant, you will be required to work closely and engage with the parent company for weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting, preparing annual and interim reports, and financial statements for the Group as well as providing analytical support.

This will include:

• managing of accruals and prepayments, production of monthly comprehensive management information pack and ensure that the close process is delivered to timetable;
• reporting significant variations and delays to the Finance Manager, highlighting unusual items and movements.
• reviewing of general and direct costs, preparation of costs analysis with the purpose of seeking costs saving opportunities;
• ensuring that all spreadsheets are compliant with accepted standards.
• maintaining the division’s journal checklist and ensure regular journals are posted on a timely basis, highlighting irregular journals and ensuring that all journals have been adequately authorised;
• maintaining high quality documentation evidencing the financial close process, ensuring that the documentation is updated quarterly and signed off by the Finance Manager;
• maintaining a reconciliation checklist to ensure that all significant reconciliations have been completed in a timely manner, highlighting all exceptions to the Financial Reporting Manager.

Reporting to the UK based Finance Manager you will also support planning and budgeting processes and will provide information to shareholders. The UK team (responsible for the Group’s European operations) are a close knit collaborative group and you will have the opportunity to engage in a range of activities and projects in addition to the financial reporting ‘day job.’ We’re looking for a Financial Accountant who will provide a high standard of financial work.

To secure and succeed in this position you will:

• be fully qualified (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
• have advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, graphs and vlookups required).
• have prepared and analysed complex financial reports
• have modelled, reported on and monitored financial data
• have an understanding of IFRS standards as well as the ability to interpret standards
• have outstanding numerical and analytical skills
• be a good communicator and have the confidence to deal with shareholders and senior decision makers;
• display strong understanding of own department and good general understanding of overall business objectives, evolving customer needs and technological solutions; apply continuous improvement practices to enhance business processes and results.
• be able to actively work collaboratively alongside the team to help move the team toward the completion of team and business goals.
• have experience of working on accounting systems. The business currently uses accounting software Navision.
