Job Description

Key Responsibilities & Activities for Investment Manager

Financial Modelling

  • Designing, producing, amending and updating complex financial models (DCF, NPV, IRR etc.) for transactions, valuations, capital investment and business planning
  • Running scenario analysis on the models and producing summaries to enable decision making
  • Reviewing the financial modelling of junior team members to ensure consistency in the data driving key business decisions by the Senior Management Team

Market Analysis

  • Overseeing the collection and analysing of data on the sector to support business decisions, including monitoring competitor transactions and pricing
  • Screening and analysing new investment opportunities and undertaking the financial analysis and excel modelling
  • Managing the workload of the team across multiple strategic projects
  • Ensuring the highest levels of diligence, transparency and accuracy in information

Portfolio Management

  • Identifying portfolio management opportunities to optimise returns from existing and planned portfolio investment
  • Challenging existing business practises to find ways to optimise cashflow and asset value
  • Monitoring and reporting on post-investment activities
  • Preparing returns forecasts for proposed investment, and supporting the Investment Director in presenting this back to the Board/Investors
  • Overseeing the external valuation process and control of the external valuation model

Transaction Management & Due Diligence

  • Overseeing the generation of pipeline acquisition opportunities through both passive and active channels
  • Identifying and creating business cases for disposal candidates
  • Leading transaction due diligence & data room analysis
  • Liaising with external counterparties (lawyers, advisers, accountants, etc.)
  • Managing the workload of the team across multiple and frequent acquisitions

Reporting

  • Writing recommendation papers for Management and Board approvals
  • Drafting business strategic presentations
  • Collating data for and assisting in the preparation and delivery of board reports

Planning and Organising

  • Effective planning and organising of time and tasks in line with needs of the business
  • Effective management and organisation of the Investment Team's workload in line with the needs of the business

Ad-hoc

  • Due to the strategic nature of this role and the high growth potential of Liberty Living this comprehensive role may require additional support to the wider business as directed by your manager and/or Senior Management Team

 

The Successful Applicant

Person Specification

Education & Qualifications

  • A strong undergraduate degree from a top-tier university (or equivalent) with an interest in the real estate sector

Professional Experience

  • Prior valid experience within real estate M&A, Big 4 accounting firm, investment banking, private equity, consulting or real estate corporate finance.
  • Solid transactional experience is crucial to succeed in this role

Abilities

  • Advanced understanding of financial modelling, with the analytical capabilities to plan, build, use and interpret models
  • Highly numerate and logical
  • Strong written presentation skills
  • Strong ability to challenge, problem solve, multi-task, plan and organise
  • Enthusiasm and drive with evidence of "going the extra mile" coupled with strong focus and a flexible and resilient attitude
  • Ability to deliver on multiple projects at any one time
