Totum are currently working with a truly global law firm in its search for a Head of Finance for the Asia and Pacific (APAC) region. Based in Singapore, the Head of Finance (APAC) has ultimate responsibility for the APAC Finance Team of 25 people, financial reporting and financial planning for the APAC region. Working with the APAC Business Management Team, the Head of Finance will be developing and implementing initiatives that drive the business forward. With reporting lines into the Global Finance Director and regional Chief Operating Officer, this is a senior-level managerial appointment for a qualified accountant.

The post holder will be able to exercise leadership within the finance management team across the APAC offices, while maintaining responsibility for specific line management functions with the finance department. The individual will be expected to forge relationships with the key stakeholders in each office such that they become trusted by those individuals to be a first point of contact for dealing with financial matters. Travel will be required across the APAC region on a regular basis, in addition to other international offices as required. Key responsibilities include managing all financial reporting, including the annual budgets, monthly finance packs, working capital reports and annual financial statements. The role also has responsibility for the region's financial compliance including regulatory compliance (including SARs) and the annual audit process. The Head of Finance will get involved in several core commercial activities including reviewing and delivering improved profitability by engaging regularly with Partners and proactively encouraging profit improvement opportunities as well as providing direct day to day support in respect to pricing proposals. The role also has responsibility for various tax-related duties including liaising with the local tax advisors, providing Partners with information about their tax returns and liaising with the head office tax department about tax-related issues.

Applicants should be qualified accountants with previous legal industry experience. Wider professional service experience might be considered as well. Strong leadership skills as well as technical accounting expertise should both be demonstrable. This is a key strategic role with many senior stakeholders and excellent communication expertise coupled with personal gravitas is going to be required.
