Due to continued growth of this leading music orientated accountancy practice there is a need for a qualified accountant to join the royalty accounting division. Working with some big names within the industry this position will manage the day to day royalty accounting affairs with the assistance of junior members of the team to include cashflow, debtor management, tax and VAT provisions. To be effective in this position you will ideally be fully qualified and have a thorough understanding of the music industry and working knowledge of the industry collections societies (ie. PPL, PRS etc). Due to the extensive interaction you will have with your clients, record labels, management companies etc it is imperative that you have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

This is a senior position within the team and will help lead, train and direct junior members of the team.

The Role:

  • Prepare year end and management accounts for clients
  • Oversee the day to day running of affairs for high profile clients, including liaison with label managers, lawyers, collection societies etc
  • Manage client cashflows, Tax provisions, corporation tax etc
  • Liaise with Copyright Controllers regarding reading and interpreting recording and publishing agreements and verifying completeness of royalty statements and inclusion of these into accounts
  • Prepare self assessment returns and VAT returns
  • Involvement in various ad hoc projects
  • Assist with training, mentoring and the development of junior members of staff

The Person:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of the music industry (Publishing, Recordings and Collections Societies) would be a distinct advantage
  • Ability to present financial information, prepare full sets of accounts and interpret contracts
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills is a must
  • Highly motivated, able to self manage and a great team player
  • Strong work ethic, able to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
  • Advanced Excel skills.
