The client is a global travel and leisure retailer. Specialising in tour operations across the world, they are seeking a financial accountant to join their team on a 6 month FTC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for delivering month end reporting in the USA.
  • Ensuring balance sheet accounts are regularly reconciled, accounting is in accordance with IFRS, and risks / opportunities identified.
  • Working with the Financial Controller and Business Partners to understand variances between actual month end results, forecast, budget and prior year.
  • Delivering all tax, CAA, ABTA and other regulatory returns, including a detailed understanding of TOMS VAT rules.
  • Being a key liaison for with EY, our external auditors, and with Global Insurance and Enterprise Risk.
  • Identifying areas of potential control risks and developing solutions.
  • Managing and developing a Finance Assistant, who's role is to ensure bank and credit card reconciliations are complete, and to assist your delivery of month end requirements.
  • Continuous focus on improving processes, not just in your own role but across Finance and the wider business.
  • Being a proactive member of the Finance team.

Experience, Requirements and Key Behaviours

  • Qualified accountant with a minimum 3 years experience in a high volume, low margin business within a listed group.
  • Hands-on with a keen eye for detail and a passion for getting the accounting right.
  • Genuine, practical experience of completing complicated reconciliations.
  • Able to explain complicated accounting concepts in a clear and straight-forward manner.
  • Good knowledge of accounting best practice and IFRS.
  • Experience of working within a tour operator would be an advantage.
  • Proactive in dealing with issues and a desire to make changes that continuously improve their processes, their team and themselves.
  • Able to influence for positive changes within Finance and the wider business.
  • Used to managing stakeholders across a variety of timezones.
  • Ability to work under pressure and ensure deadlines are met.
