The Systems Accountant Role
Highways England wish to recruit a Systems Accountant to work with the new Cloud-Based Oracle Fusion Suite, this is a permanent role based in Birmingham. We are looking for someone who will drive this new innovative software platform to meet the needs of our Business Users in Finance and Procurement. There will be a requirement to keep on top of the brief of new changes which are regularly announced and to collaborate with the Business and manage a team of Module Subject Matter Experts to enable these to be successfully delivered
Day to Day Tasks of the Systems Accountant
- Seek to continually improve the core financial system processes, system controls and system performance in accordance with business requirements
- Lead the maintenance and update of the Fusion ERP suite, co-ordinate these activities between functional system experts and business process owners
- Develop and enhance contacts outside of Highways England to identify how other organisations manage their systems, share lessons and information and implement changes to incorporate best practise
- Work to the Specialist Technical Architect with responsibility for the Fusion Service and the respective leads for elements of the ERP solution within the business
- Communicate to the wider business any issues relating to the status of data integrity, the position regarding standing data and progress with period ends.
What we are looking for in a Systems Accountant:
- Relevant accounting qualification or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrable knowledge and practical experience of ERP systems
- Business Process Engineering knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrable practical experience of reconciliation processes between Sub-Ledgers and of working in a Finance environment
