About Our Client

Headquartered in Reading, Watch Shop has supplied leading watch brands including Hugo Boss, Michael Kors, Armani and Tissot for nearly 30 years. In 2014 they were acquired by Aurum Holdings (now Watches of Switzerland) - a private equity owned group and the largest prestige and luxury jewellers in the UK. Watch Shop, as is consistent across the Group, prides itself on the excellent product range and unrivalled service they provide across their brands.

Job Description

Working closely and in partnership with the new CEO, the Finance Director will be integral to the overall business performance, sitting on the Watch Shop senior management team. With an emphasis on sales margin and commercial drivers rather than statutory reporting, other key responsibilities will include:

  • The interpretation and understanding of business performance
  • Providing advice in a business partnering capacity; identifying areas for standardisation, simplification or improvement as well as timely identification of potential changes in business process
  • Provide an analytical and detailed approach to business reporting and analysis
  • Continuous drive to improve reporting, processes and systems
  • Oversee the annual strategic planning and budgeting process
  • Ensure the delivery and execution of a robust FP&A function
  • Deliver an effective business partnering approach with the Parent company, Watches of Switzerland
  • Lead, develop and manage a Finance team of 3
  • Challenge the norm to develop bottom and top-line growth

The Successful Applicant

The new Finance Director must be hands-on and have a commercial, even entrepreneurial, approach to their work. An ability to see the bigger business picture will be essential. The successful candidate will likely come from the world of pure play online retail and as such, understand many of the challenges and drivers associated with this sector. Other attributes for the Finance Director include:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Experience of delivering growth across UK and Europe
  • Able to set up processes, procedures and systems
  • Effective negotiator and influencer
  • Strong financial / corporate governance experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Analytical skills with the ability to deal with new concepts and a high degree of complexity

A competitive salary package and the opportunity to join a fast-paced business which is at an exciting phase.
