Deputy Director of Finance

Loughborough, Leicestershire

The Role

Loughborough University is seeking an experienced professional to join the finance team as Deputy Director of Finance in a dynamic and complex environment.

This important role will help the University build on its strong financial position and meet the challenges of the current economic climate and the changing Higher Education sector.

This is a senior post, reporting to the Director of Finance, in an organisation with a diverse turnover of over £320million and a substantial programme of capital investment. As a result, you must be able to demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity and financial probity.

You must be more than an excellent accountant; we are looking for an ambitious, enthusiastic and commercially minded leader who is able to work across the University and engage with colleagues, funders and stakeholders at all levels.

You will already be in a senior finance post and should have significant post qualification experience in leading a finance team. You should not be deterred by a lack of experience working in a University; with the Higher Education sector experiencing unprecedented change a team ethos and a positive and determined attitude are welcome, whatever your background.

The Deputy Director of Finance will support the Director of Finance both in their absence but also on a range of initiatives and developments that are appropriate to the seniority of this role. The role has direct line management of the finance team including accounting, treasury, tax, procurement and financial shared services.

Loughborough is an exceptional university and a very special place to work. The combination of our excellent student experience, enterprising outlook, world class research and unparalleled sporting achievement gives rise to something that's truly special and distinctive among the UK's universities.

For an informal discussion around the role, please contact our retained recruitment advisers - The McLean Partnership on 020 3597 6423 and ask to speak with Toby Gebbie or Paul Soothill.
