Control Accountant

SF Group are currently recruiting a Control Accountant for our Birmingham based client on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic role which will see the ideal candidate undertaking and being responsible for putting internal controls in place whilst possessing the experience of working in a practice environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a forward thinking organisation and this is a wide encompassing position where you will put in practice a number of skills learned in a practice environment. This position requires a technical financial accountant who has strong business partnering skills to work in a environment where you will be given all the tools to Excel. Your role will include reporting of VAT submissions, working with external stakeholders and tax advisers in submission of corporation tax returns. This is a pivotal role where you will be assisting with statutory accounts submission and business partnering with both internal and external auditors. You will monitor internal controls and performance of the organisation and ensure that the current policies and documentation fall in line with current legislation.

As the ideal candidate you will be preferably from a practice/audit background and a first time mover into industry where you will be given a brilliant role to learn new skills. This role is very much a middle ground in Tax, VAT, internal controls and putting processes and procedures in place.

Ideally, you will be part/qualified with advanced Excel knowledge and you will have strong experience in controls review and/or implementation. Working in a regulatory background will put you in good stead and having the ability to understand risk and experience working in a risk background is beneficial. You must be a confident communicator who can understand complex processes and putting strong controls in place. Having the ability to business partner with a wide range of stakeholders is essential.
