Your new role
Your new role will be covering a specific £50 million turnover division and will see you commercially business partner with all areas of the company. Your typical responsibilities will be:
- Ensure full transparency, understanding and interpretation of Business P&L's, clearly articulating drivers of direct costs and allocations of indirect overheads
- Evaluate and challenge operational teams on the monthly performance against budget and forecast
- Review and challenge specific areas of the overheads cost base, articulating variances and recommending remedial actions for areas of overspend
- Produce insightful month end variance analysis to inform upwards reporting to the Functional leadership team and Financial Control team
- Manage the review and challenge for specific areas of the functional cost base providing the appropriate high level analysis of performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving cost efficiency initiatives
- Maintain a register of cost Risks and Opportunities, highlight through the appropriate channels, and ensure alignment in quarterly forecasts
- Manage the budgeting and forecasting process for the function within the guidelines and timetable established by the Financial Control team
- Conduct Probity process for multiple Balance Sheet codes in line with business and audit requirements, identify and correct for discrepancies accordingly
- Provide expert advice and an independent view to the Finance Leadership Team & CFO
- Evaluate business cases for all commercial decisions, providing challenge to functional heads and Project Managers, making recommendations to improve investment decisions
- Engage with our Estates Management and Treasury Service Provider to ensure funding takes place as per schedule. Carry out Monthly review sessions.
- Approval of Purchase Order requisitions within the agreed company levels.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed, you must be qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA with a broad range of commercial finance experience, specifically within a large business. A good understanding of of finance systems (particularly SAP and Excel) will be greatly beneficial whilst good commercial skills are essential. you must have experience of putting together business cases based on financial information and be able to communicate these to non-finance stakeholders. You must hold very strong analytical skills to effectively summarise and interpret data to senior non-finance business leaders and a good commercial acumen.
