Our client is a market leading business services organisation that has achieved high growth following a period of significant investment.  They are PE backed and are embarking on an ambitious growth strategy with planned acquisitions to drive further international growth.   To support this strategy they are looking to recruit a Group Financial Controller, with excellent team leadership and management skills. The role will support planned M&A activity and subsequent integrations.  There will be a need to expand the finance function internationally and maintain a first in class finance function.  This is a key autonomous leadership role, supporting a CFO, which will involve board level interaction and presentations to investors.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • The production of accurate and timely financial data, reports and forecasts
  • The maintenance of accurate head office accounting and corporate records
  • The maintenance of robust, reliable and value-added financial forecasting and reporting processes
  • The maintenance of policies and processes to ensure effective internal controls
  • Ensuring adherence to all Group reporting and compliance requirements
  • Consolidation of all entities within the group
  • Due Diligence on potential acquisitions
  • Integration of newly acquired businesses
  • Assist in the business becoming exit ready

Knowledge, skills and experience required as follows:

  • Solid academic background and relevant accountancy qualification
  • Previous experience of working for a business with an international footprint
  • Ideally you would have previous experience of M&A work, particularly integrations of newly acquired businesses
  • Strong accounting/controlling experience
  • Ability to work autonomously and own all finance issues
  • Experience of working within a multi-currency reporting environment
  • Previous experience working within a Group Finance Function
  • Exceptionally strong technical skills
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • A committed team player with a strong commercial outlook and a hands-on approach
  • Strong man management skills and a proven track record of development and management of direct reports
  • A desire to be in a highly visible role where change is on the agenda
  • Able to build relationships across the organisation and accustomed to working effectively with external advisers
  • Interest and ability in playing a growing role within the business
  • A self-starter, flexible, trustworthy, reliable, driven and hardworking
