fdu is delighted to be working with an analytics-driven technology business experiencing consistent YoY growth, currently causing disruption in the transportation industry as global leaders in their sector. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Financial Controller will take the lead on all key management and statutory financial reporting and help drive the business to rigorous standards of budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and financial management. It is an exciting time to join a business ready to scale, and for the right Candidate, the opportunity exists to develop the role into a Finance Director position.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Being responsible for all aspects of day-to-day financial operations.
- Delivering and filing of annual statutory accounts and tax returns for the UK and all subsidiary companies.
- Ensuring timely production of consolidated monthly management accounts.
- Assisting the CEO with maintenance (and further development of) accurate group cash flow forecasting, group financial planning, and budgeting.
- Assisting key stakeholders with business planning and budgeting, and monitoring of KPIs.
- Working with the senior leadership team on Client proposals.
- Supporting the process of setting up overseas subsidiaries and accounting thereafter.
- Further developing regional P&Ls with allocation schedules of direct costs and overheads.
- Maintaining compliance relationships with key finance providers, including monthly banking compliance, working capital facilities, and other reporting requirements from Equity Investors.
- Managing projects and their delivery.
- Leading and managing a small but growing Finance team in the UK; taking responsibility for the development of, and where appropriate, recruitment of the Finance team.
Key experience will include:
- ACA | ACCA | CIMA Qualified Accountant or equivalent.
- Good education; degree-level qualification and strong A-levels.
- Ideally large and small | medium company experience; bringing both best financial practice, and the knowledge of how to operate and behave in a dynamic, fast-growth environment.
- Proven strong leadership and team management experience, especially in a period of growth.
- Strong financial systems literacy; ideally with exposure to new system implementation.
- Proven process and controls experience.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential, preferably working with complex financial models.
Candidate Profile will include:
- Ideally previous experience of SME growth businesses in the technology space
- Able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- 'Hands on’ in approach, personable, confident, charismatic but not arrogant.
- Strong attention to detail - 'will get into the weeds’.
- A pragmatic yet thoughtful "outcome" focus.
- Ability to build relationships easily with financial and non-financial team members.
- A high degree of IQ and EQ.
