The Senior Accountant supports the Region Finance Controller in preparation of financial statements including supporting schedules, reconciliations and the consolidation process. Support and drive the cleanup, tracking and maintenance for the balance sheet reconciliations. Work closely and provide guidance oversight to the shared services finance teams in India. Direct or indirect participation in the US GAAP, bank and statutory audits.
Senior Accountant Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accounting Close Responsibilities: Support the Regional Controller and other staff in recording required Journal Entries required to close the books each month.
- Review expense accounts for significant fluctuations in balances and explain/correct entries as necessary.
- Review Accounts Payable accruals for incurred expenses focusing on completeness and accuracy.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Assure the balance sheet reconciliations are complete timely and accurately.
- Address aging items and counter party confirmation gaps are resolved real time. As part of this the SR Accountant will be charged with leading a global initiative to assure all BS are reconciled and controls in place to assure completeness of the process.
- External and Miscellaneous Audits: assist with requests for the interim and year-end external audit. Assist with other audit requests such as bank, creditor, etc.
- Other projects as assigned by the Region Controller and finance team, including the transition to a new ERP system.
Job Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree with major or concentration in accounting.
- Advanced degree or ACCA/CIMA preferred
Experience
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ general ledger accounting experience.
- Experience with troubleshooting and independently solving complex intercompany transaction reconciliations and clear understanding for documenting such processes including process maps and T-accounts as required
- Experience in month end close processes and consolidation reporting
- SAP, Navision or similar ERP systems experience
- CRO industry experience a plus

- Ability to research issues and present these solutions to supervisor.
- Demonstrated experience as self-driven, independent, critical thinker. Capable of bringing assigned projects to completion with minimal supervision.
