Hays Senior Finance is excited to be working in partnership with Johnson Matthey who are a global leader in science that enables a cleaner and healthier world. They are looking to appoint a Finance Director to join its well established business in either Royston, Hertfordshire or Paddington, London. This is a new role that has been created to support the Life Science Technologies Business in New Markets Sector.

As part of Johnson Matthey’s New Markets Sector, LST, with a revenue of more than £40m and a presence in the UK, US and Asia, is well placed for strong growth in attractive markets, with a focus on the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and fine chemical sectors and its products which include homogeneous, heterogeneous and enzymatic catalysts. This vacancy presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to play a pivotal role in setting the strategic direction of the LST business

As the Global Finance Director you will report to the Managing Director and will be predominantly based in Royston or Paddington. This role will have finance responsibility for LST finance worldwide, providing functional leadership, support and challenge to the business; being the finance business partner to the LST Managing Director and the rest of the LST Management Team; and representing LST Finance with the Sector and with Group.

You will work effectively across all aspects of the LST business and establish a robust control environment and continually monitor and assess effectiveness. You will aim to drive business performance, convince and influence senior stakeholders, whilst ensuring the risk environment is correctly assessed. You will proactively drive and support change and improvements across the organisation. You will have direct line management responsibility for two members of staff.

It is essential you have strong leadership, communication and influencing skills, with experience of influencing internationally across different cultures and with colleagues who work in a matrix outside of direct reporting lines. All applicants must be professionally qualified ACA/CIMA or ACA. Above all you will have a strong degree of commercial acumen, with the ability to liaise with high level stakeholders and create insightful financial presentations that will drive business performance. You will also have proven experience in a Finance Business Partner role within a manufacturing business, acting as a critical contributor in setting and co-delivering the strategic direction of the business.
