Finance Manager

Exciting, dynamic, Hertfordshire based Pharmaceutical company involved in ground breaking research and development of specialist drugs and evolutionary medicines are looking for a ambitious Finance manager to work as part of a small team person will be a key member within the Finance team and will be offered a varied role and given autonomy from day one. As the Finance Manager you will be driven, and someone who thrives when given the opportunity to take ownership of key operational processes and stakeholder relationships reporting to the Finance Director and supervising one Finance Assistant you will be responsible for driving a number of critical financial tasks in support of the Finance Director and the wider business. This is a rapidly expanding fledgling business and the role will also involve documentation and identification of improvements to business processes as well as establishing new ones as the financial framework becomes more complex and the business grows.
Responsibilities:

• Overseeing and monitoring day to day financial operations , such as payroll, invoicing and other transactions
• Overseeing month-end processes
• Preparing the monthly management accounts
• Assisting with the preparation of the rolling operational forecast
• Implementing Company Treasury policy: managing the cash flow forecast and the company's balance sheet and managing foreign currencies
• Overseeing Fixed Asset Register
• Reviewing VAT submissions
• Assisting with the year-end audit
• Assist with new ERP system implementation planned in 2019. The new system will support the scale-up and growth of the business
• Managing and developing the Finance Assistant
• Supporting the Finance Director in the budgeting, forecasting and planning process

Education and Qualifications:

• Qualified accountant. (ACA, CIMA and ACCA)
• Graduates with science related degrees or research experience and an interest in science & understanding of scientific language will be preferred

Skills and Abilities:

• Working experience in Sage line 50 with experience of other systems desirable given move to new ERP in 2019
• Expert Excel user
• Management accounts and VAT experience
• Experience of working in life sciences or biotech highly desirable

• Intelligent with excellent written and verbal communication skills - ideally someone who can articulate financial concepts to a non-financial audience
