Senior Technical Accountant - Edinburgh
Salary - c. £56,000 - £84,000 with Excellent Benefits Package
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Group Technical Accountant to join to join our financial services client based in Edinburgh on permanent basis.
The main purpose of this role is to produce consolidated IFRS financial statements and Group Solvency II reporting. This role is responsible for contributing to the Group accounting policies and provision of advice to the business on IFRS accounting and S2 reporting treatment for initiatives such as new products and transactions. It is an exciting opportunity for an accountant who enjoys complex problem solving to be involved in establishing the basis for future financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Providing advice on the treatment under IFRS and Solvency II reporting for proposed initiatives including new products and transactions
- Analysing the impact of new accounting standards on the Group results and provide technical accounting support to the implementation
- Production of IFRS and Solvency II reporting technical analyses
- Supporting the preparation of the Group IFRS financial statements, including ownership of a number of notes to the accounts
- Ensuring sections of the Group Accounting Manual and associated Group accounting policies allocated to the role holder are maintained and communicated across Group finance effectively
- Liaising with external auditors on IFRS and Solvency 2 reporting technical matters
- Maintaining effective working relationships with other teams in Finance ensuring that Group technical accounting needs are communicated, understood and met
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
The successful candidate will possess a professional accounting qualification (Chartered Accountant or equivalent), with experience working in a technical accounting team and a detailed understanding of IFRS and Solvency II reporting requirements.
- Working knowledge of IFRS or Solvency II reporting requirements
- Significant experience of working in a technical accounting team
- Strong experience of accounting legislation, regulatory reporting standards, IFRS and strong report writing skills.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, the ability to openly discuss solutions with a diverse audience.
- Experience of dealing with complex transactions and associated accounting
- Experience of insurance accounting, including requirements of UKGAAP and IFRS
