New College Stamford is seeking to appoint a Head of Finance to ensure that financial management services are provided efficiently and effectively across all sites in line with College policies and financial regulations.  

New College Stamford is a medium sized college in South Lincolnshire with over 2000 16-18 year olds on Study Programmes, 250 Higher Education students, 400 Apprenticeships and 1000 adults on a range of programmes.  The College was graded ‘good’ by Ofsted in March 2017 and has firm ambitions to ‘Achieve Excellence’ in the next two years. This post holder will lead and manage a highly effective team under the direction of the Vice Principal and deliver the department’s financial strategy to support the overarching College strategy. ​

Overall Purpose of the Head of Finance:

To be accountable to the Vice Principal, Finance & Resources to ensure that financial management services are provided efficiently and effectively across all sites in line with College policies and financial regulations.

Requirements of the Head of Finance Role:

The successful candidate must have a full accounting qualification, have extensive experience in a finance environment and also experience of leading, motivating and developing staff. You must be able to demonstrate you can be self-motivated, exceptionally well-organised, with superb communication skills, the ability to lead and provide exceptional customer service. Finally the successful candidate must have the ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines. Corporate Responsibilities of the Head of Finance: 

  • To engender a strong team ethos, which promotes a positive, can-do attitude across the department.
  • Maintain excellent standards of customer care and provide a flexible and responsive service to all users.
  • Assist with College enrolment/open evenings as required (which will entail occasional attendance outside normal College hours for which time off in lieu will be agreed).
  • Comply with, and implement as appropriate, all College policies and procedures with particular reference to Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding and Health & Safety.
  • To commit to and uphold, the College’s Environmental Policies and aspirations for sustainable learning provision.
  • Undertake continuing professional development as appropriate.  Take a full part in the College staff development programme including the appraisal process.
  • To be included on the cross College duty manager rota covering morning, lunchtime, late afternoon and some evenings.
  • To carry out such duties as may be determined from time to time within the general scope of the post.
