We are looking to recruit an experienced Systems Accountant within our Financial Services team, with strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and corporate reporting systems. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Systems Accountant to develop our corporate reporting systems, as well as have the responsibility of day-to-day system support, ensuring that the efficiency and service of the team is maximised.

 

Typically, the Systems Accountant​ will:

  • Maintain responsibility for systems administration, ensuring security profiles are set up, amended or deleted as required in accordance with established internal procedures.
  • Facilitate system support working group sessions providing knowledge and guidance to resolve issues and improve processes for the shared benefit of the Finance Department and the wider University.
  • Review and design finance system workflows to ensure that the system remains efficient and meets operational needs whilst maintaining robust internal control. Understand and explore user needs to identify requirements and design the workflows accordingly.
  • Support the Head of Accounting, Planning & Reporting, attending meetings and forums as appropriate, providing practical and operational knowledge.
  • Design and scope reports and dashboards to meet user needs and enhance stakeholder decision-making.

 

Ideal candidate for the Systems Accountant role:

  • Considerable experience of working within an accounting, planning and reporting environment of a large organisation including development of new financial reporting systems, procedures and controls; accurately interpreting complex financial data in order to produce comprehensive analysis.
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies, suggesting and implementing innovative solutions, understanding customer needs and adapt service levels to take account of practicalities.
  • Stakeholder management, proven ability to articulate finance and IT issues to key people within the business.
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
  • Worked with ERP systems, SAP preferred, and experience of Adaptive Insights is desirable, as well as excellent Excel skills.
