Hays Senior Finance is excited to be working in partnership with St Nicholas Hospice Care who have been supporting the people of West Suffolk and Thetford since 1984, delivering care to people in their own homes as well as in outpatient sessions and on their inpatient ward. They are a local charity who provide help, advice and support to people in West Suffolk and Thetford in the final chapters of their life, who are living with long-term and life-threatening illnesses. Every year they support 2,500 people and the need for palliative care support is likely to increase sharply in the future.

They have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Controller to join their finance team to help implement and improve their current finance function's efficiency and processes. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will contribute to the senior leadership of the Hospice and also deputise for the Finance Director when required. This is a pivotal role where you will need to business partner with key stakeholders across the organisation to develop strong internal relationships to ensure the effective management of financial resources.

The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified and a finance professional. You will have strong commercial business acumen, with high levels of drive, ambition and resilience to be successful in getting things done. You will have strong skills in strategic planning, business partnering, monitoring and reporting on the delivery of plans and projects. The organisation has a hands-on, problem solving team culture so it is essential that you have the ability to solve problems, coach and influence others to step up and continue the improvement process.

The role will be based at the Hospice in Bury St Edmunds but you will occasionally be required to travel to other locations within West Suffolk and Thetford. This is a full time role although for an exceptional candidate there is scope to consider 4 days per week. The salary will be paid up to a maximum of £55,000 (pro-rata). Benefits include: 25 days annual leave (increasing with service) plus bank holidays, pension and other benefits including flexible working.

This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a transforming finance team, where you will enjoy significant exposure at senior levels of the organisation, and have the chance to progress your career. This is an exciting time to join St Nicholas Hospice, and if you are up for the challenge and want to make a difference to your community by being part of a forward-thinking organisation with ambitious plans for the future then please click apply now with your up-to-date CV.
