Our client is an innovative Private Equity backed business with excellent growth prospects internationally and a strong market presence in the UK.  Due to an internal promotion they seek a commercial and ambitious Controller to lead a strong finance team.  The business is highly profitable and is poised for further growth due to a highly regarded product range.  This is an exciting and varied opportunity to gain wider commercial skills and participate in driving further growth.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Day to day responsibility for the finance department ensuring continued accuracy and timeliness of reporting, whilst maintaining a strong control environment
  • Improving the inter-relationship of the business systems within the group
  • Building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Assisting HR and other departments within the Group
  • Preparation of Group Management Reports
  • Review of the balance sheet position each month
  • Ownership of the annual budget and forecast processes, ensuring accuracy of forecasts and production of commentary that explains in detail the forecast performance of the group and the inherent risks and opportunities
  • Management of the Banking Relationship and maintenance of the rolling 12-month cashflow forecast
  • Control of the Statutory Reporting, annual audit and preparation of tax returns, including overseeing group payroll
  • Management and continual development of KPI reporting, including regular meetings with the commercial departments to generate KPI’s and market data to support sales and marketing departments
  • Create commentary around the KPI’s that add insight to inform strategic decision making
  • Evaluate plans to continually enhance and integrate the business systems of the group

Qualifications & Person Spec:

  • Highly numerate and a high level of accuracy/attention to detail, whilst also having the ability to step back and see the bigger picture
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team
  • A qualified accountant, preferably with audit and statutory accounts preparation/review experience
  • At least 3 years post qualified experience in an SME or fast paced commercial environment
  • Good knowledge of UK tax legislation including VAT and Corporate Tax
  • Good systems experience and strong excel skills
  • A willing team member with strong interpersonal skills
  • An entrepreneurial outlook and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
