Your new organisation 

Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a single-site hospital, based in Guildford, which serves a population of more than 330,000 across south west Surrey. We are a specialist tertiary cancer centre, offering state of the art diagnostic and treatment services to a population of up to 2 million. The Trust celebrated its 150th birthday on 27 April 2016.

As an NHS Foundation Trust, we have a 26-strong Council of Governors and over 8,000 public members. We employ around 4,000 members of staff making us one of Guildford’s largest employers. In addition, the hospital is supported by a thriving group of 500 volunteers all of whom provide valuable services on an independent, voluntary basis.

Your new role 

You will lead and actively participate in all financial aspects of the Trust’s strategy and have responsibility for the flow of financial information to the Director of Finance and the Trust Board. You will report to the Head of Planning & Reporting and also be responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of the Trust’s complex Long Term Financial Model (LTFM), production of the Annual Planning Model and ad-hoc financial modelling for the Trust.

In this role you will provide financial information that is robust and accurate and be able to explain, discuss, recommend, persuade/influence and prioritise required actions to budget managers. You will further provide high quality tools, information and data to enable budget managers to effectively and efficiently manage budgets and to support development of strategies to improve financial performance.

What you'll need to succeed 

You will be CCAB/CIMA Qualified with over 3 years PQE and have a strong background in NHS financial modelling and strategic planning. The ability to create, update and populate multi-year NHS integrated financial models is a must. The modelling skills you have, will need to be excellent for interpreting and reflecting strategic intentions, completing LTFM’s, scenario modelling, acquisitions, mergers and disposals using IFRS’.

In person you will be analytical with a strong attention to detail, have a confident approach and able to challenge others. You will be an effective communicator, used to presenting complex technical information to large groups of non-finance professionals and multi-disciplinary teams. The ability to build strong relationships will also be vital as you will be working in tandem with senior non-financial directors.

We offer a competitive salary (Agenda for Change Band 8b, currently £50,975 - £61,697 inc High Cost Area Supplement).
