The GDC employs approximately 350 employees, mostly based in London. We also engage the services of over 500 associates and panellists who sit on our statutory committees, hearings and fitness to practise panels. From October 2018 a new Birmingham Office will be opening, with circa 90 staff with further staff joining throughout 2019.

About the role:

We are seeking a Finance Business Partner to provide financial insight, partnering, direction and support to a range of different stakeholders as well as support the preparation of the 3 year financial plan and annual budget.

The role will:

  • Partner with the business to efficiently manage resources and expenditure
  • Provide direction and challenge operational activity developing a robust evidence base supported by robust financial facts
  • Lead the quarterly forecasting process, providing guidance and advice
  • Develop headcount reporting and analysis and present financial data to senior management
  • Promote good financial management and value for money
  • Provide financial advice to budget holders to assist them to effectively managing budgets
  • Effectively manage relationships with stakeholders

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at our new Birmingham office.

About you:

You can communicate with confidence to a range of different stakeholders and will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to challenge and effectively influence senior managers to achieve organisational objectives.  You will have a background in effectively delivering and maturing a finance business partner role within a medium to large sized organisation and can speak to your experiences in building and maintaining relationships with budget-holders and senior management.

You will have experience in using the MS Office suite, including Excel (Macro Level) as well as a background in developing an integrated accounting system (preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV).  You will have a proven track record in in performing a key role in the production of financial forecasts, plans and budgets.    You are a logical thinker and can demonstrate your ability to research and investigate issues as well as problem solve.

In addition, you will not only thrive in a team environment but will be highly organised and able to work independently to complete tasks accurately and achieve goals within specified timeframes.

Our new office is situated within walking distance of Birmingham’s two main rail stations at New Street and Snow Hill and is in close proximity to the proposed HS2 site. The building underwent complete refurbishment and reimaging by the present owners two years ago, providing excellent facilities and amenities, including: over 100 cycle bays, showers, locker rooms and a drying room for colleagues.
