Head of Accounts - Real Estate Development - 12 month contract. Our Client is an international real estate investment and development firm. They develop large commercial properties in the main cities across UK and Europe. Since its inception a quarter of a century ago they have grown significantly to now having just under £2billion of assets under management. They are now looking for an experienced candidate to head up their London accounting function on a 12 month contract to start straight away.

 

The Role will be reporting to the European head office and UK Directors and the duties will include;

 

  • Preparing regular statutory accounts.
  • Preparing annual CITR and monthly, quarterly and annual VAT returns.
  • Managing and performing monthly, quarterly and year-end closings to ensure timely IFRS reporting in accordance with corporate deadlines.
  • Ensuring assigned account reconciliations are prepared and reviewed accurately.
  • Ensuring that tax and accounting practices comply with statutory requirements.
  • Assisting in quarterly balance sheet reviews and preparing variance analysis.
  • Handling and providing information to external auditors (annual audits, transaction audits).
  • Managing day-to-day accounting activities for allocated entities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel expenses, banking processes, PPE, etc.
  • Reviewing CIS returns, project accounting.
  • Overseeing and managing the accounting team

 

The Person to apply must be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with some strong technical accounting experience gained from another property investment, development or construction company. Knowledge and understanding of UK tax, statutory accounting regulations and IFRS is essential. The incumbent most be able to demonstrate strong management/leadership skills along with strong communication skills (both verbally and written). The person will be able to mentor, manage and develop the accounting team. This is a 12 month maternity contract and therefore the candidate must be able to start immediately or at short notice.
