Accountant

Hays Senior Finance are recruiting for an Accountant on a Permanent basis up to £40k per annum.

Hays Senior Finance are delighted to be working with a local firm in the Scottish Borders with a newly created position of Accountant to join their team. The Accountant job will be based near Melrose and easily commutable by car. Our client are a luxury retail business with a significant portfolio of experience and have an award winning presence in their field. The Accountant will be part of a small and experienced team and will report directly to the Finance Director.

Your new role
As the Accountant you will be responsible for monthly management accounts, consolidated reporting, P&L and balancesheet management in addition to supervising a small team. The Accountant will support the Senior Management team across the delivery of weekly, monthly and quarterly MI including assets and liabilities, forecasting and process improvement activities across systems and processes. You will support payroll and credit control processes in addition to submitting VAT returns and supporting the wider group for reporting purposes. The Accountant will be given significant autonomy in the role and will provide financial guidance and assistance to the management team.

What you'll need to succeed
Ideally you will be a fully qualified accountant with a strong reporting background and ideally some experience within a retail or automotive trade. You will be an excellent communicator with a strong commercial accounting focus with an ability to tell the story behind the numbers.
