The company

Our client is a market leading business services organisation specialising in core accountancy and taxation services to small, local and independent businesses across the UK, through a current franchise network of accountants.

Their services can be broken down into 4 core areas:

  • Accounting and Bookkeeping
  • Tax Advice and Tax Planning
  • Regulation and Compliance
  • Advice and Support

They not only ensure a high level of service is ultimately provided to the end users but also offers its franchisees a mix of:

  • Technical Support
  • IT Support
  • Regular training
  • Marketing Support

The role

  • To support the senior management in providing a risk-based assessment of the franchisees’ businesses and assurance that all company protocols are being adhered to, from a commercial, operational and systems perspective.
  • Key responsibilities are:
  • Preparation of the detailed audit plan;
  • Manage and perform the audit of all franchisees (Approx 2-3 per week);
  • Ensuring franchisee compliance with systems and regulations (first level);
  • Making recommendations on the systems and procedures being reviewed;
  • Reporting on the findings and recommendations whilst exercising judgement within agreed parameters;
  • Follow up on previous recommendations to ensure resolution;
  • Flagging up pastoral needs and being seen as a strong supporter.
  • Identify and understand franchisee needs, suggesting potential solutions on technical matters where appropriate;
  • Prepare and present to senior management audit findings with recommendations that could result in procedural changes across the franchise network;
  • Support colleagues when their support accountant is unavailable;
  • Ensure own technical knowledge is up to date;

The person

The ideal candidate will be a qualified finance professional who has an appetite for ensuring businesses operate effectively from commercial, legal and ethical perspectives, who has a working knowledge of UK financial reporting requirements including regulation and compliance.
